An Edo person by definition and for the purpose of this Forum Constitution only, shall be referred to as a person born to either paternal or maternal parent of Edo lineage.

HISTORY

The Mid-Western Region was a division of Nigeria from 1963 to 1991, formally known as Bendel state from 1976. It was formed in June 1963 from Benin and Delta provinces of the Western Region, and its capital was Benin City. It was renamed a province in 1966, and in 1967 when the other provinces were split up into several states, it remained territorially intact, becoming a state.

Festival

Among the Benin people of Edu State, the Igue festival is considered to be one of the most important and popular festival which is celebrated in the Benin kingdom. During the Igue festival, there are 10 specific prayers that are said by the Edo people, and these prayers are said for 10 different blessings.

The prayers are as follows:

1.) The Afiangbe prayer: In this prayer, the people thank the gods for their blessings and prosperity, and also pray for more blessings from the gods.
